Technology in the Classroom
When I joined this class, I felt somewhat comfortable with technology, however, creating a blog and a podcast proved to be more difficult than I anticipated. My students, I'm certain, will benefit from the knowledge gained during this course. I currently have started a blog on my class web page and I plan to introduce my students to it in the upcoming days. This class has motivated me to incorporate more technology into my lessons than what I would have previously.

Class Reflection
As we all know, we have entered the technical age. This is my first technology class, but I'm sure, with all of the advancements we are making, it will not be my last. My classroom will be forever changed. From weblogs to podcasts, I have opened a whole new world to my students' way of learning. I look forward to the future and everything the World Wide Web has to offer.
Web Activities
I will admit I am not very technologically advanced as most people. I can do the simple things on a computer, but as far as creating activites for my students using technology I am not very skilled. HOWEVER, I have learned so much during this technology class. I did not know how to do my own podcast or screencast before taking this class. Now I am excited that I know how to do them and I already have ideas on when to incorporate them into my upcoming units. I had so much fun in designing a WebQuest. As I was working on it, I was beginning to write down topics and ideas of my next WebQuests for my students. I also learned a lot about making blogs. I think this would be great for my students to create and update daily and/or weekly. In all, I have really enjoyed learning how to do these things. Life is so busy and hectic with paperwork and lesson plans that I appreciate having the opportunity to be able to learn about the different technology ideas and how we can use technology in our classrooms.

Larry Michael Marcum
I have really enjoyed this class. I was a little scared before the class because I do not know very much about computers. I have to say that I have learned more in this class than probably any other that I have taken. Although I teach physical education I have found some useful material that I can share with my students in a computer lab. Students are so advanced when it comes to technology these days. I am glad I got caught up on a few things that I had no idea about for this class got started.

Advance Technology
I wanted to talk about the things I have learned in Dr. Rubin's class. First of all, I had no clue where to start when this class began. I am still far behind, but I am learning, and have learned a great deal. Secondly, I didn't know what a screencast, podcast, webquest was. I have been frustrated, but at the same time, I enjoyed learning this new technology. The technology was new to me.

I have to admit I did not look forward to this class when i signed up for it. I am not what you would call computer literate. However, I am happy to report that I have been able to accomplish each assignment to date with no big problems. I think I will get the most use out of my class weblog. While alot of my students won't take advantage of this technology, I have introduced it to my class and I'm offering extra credit to any students who participate. This class has definately made a difference on how I will implement technology in my classroom.

Technology Class
When I first read the syllabus for this class, I was in a panic, I had never even heard of half of the technology terms that I was going to have to create. Now, I am proud to say that I do know them and how to both create and use them. I also did not realize how to use the different forms of technology in my classroom. Now, I am confident enough to show my students what these wonderful technologies are and the possibilities they can do with them. I plan to use the Web Blogs in my classroom. My students are far more advanced with technology than I am, they would love being able to post on a blog and follow along with their teachers blog as well. I could post upcoming assignments and news alerts for parents to see what is going on inside of the classroom. I really like the many possibilities that go along with using a Web Blog in the classroom.

I created my first web blog a couple of days ago and I must
say I’m really impressed with different ways technology and education relates
to each other. I have a degree in computer information technology and I would
have never to have thought to use a web blog or screen cast to communicate with
students in the classroom. I believe that not only learning these new technologies
but using them and maximizing them to their greatest abilities will definitely help
me become a better teacher.
Weblogs and web quests as homework?
I feel that creating a weblog and having classrooms contribute to it is a great way of utilizing technology in the classroom. When I first thought about implementing this in my classroom the first question I asked was how often I should require my students to contribute. (daily or weekly basis) Initially I thought having them contribute on a daily basis would be great but then I realized that it wasn't practical. My classroom doesn't always have access to the computer lab and not all of my students have access to computers at home. The increased use of technology in the classroom is a good thing but I think we need to remember that Southeast Kentucky is an economically depressed area. This should be kept in mind when we determine how often we assign lessons that depend on computer access. If we can give the students time to do it at school great. Yet I don't think we should assign things like this as homework.
Weblogs and Webquests
I think both a weblog and web quest are both useful in the classroom. Weblogs are a good way of finding and sharing information. Web quests are a great way of assigning lessons that require students to utilize technology, while at the same time monitoring and dictating which websites they visit. I just completed my first weblog and web quest. I think both are useful for the classroom, but I thought creating the weblog was easier. I also think a weblog can be used to cover broader topics while the web quest represents a more specific assignment. What do you think?
Web Blog
Well, I created my own web blog. I actually learned alot while doing this assignment. My wife has one for her class, and I never really took the time to try and understand about it, but once I began, I thought of a million ways on how it would be useful. I plan to try and utilize it with my classes.

Web quest
Introduced my Webquest to my Kindergarten class today. They are so excited to get started! Out of all the assignments, I think this one is my favorite so far!!! It took me a week to complete it, but I am sure the time spent will pay off with the students.

podcast
podcast was fairly simple also. I have read how some of the comments about podcast. I see many ways of using podcast in a classroom setting, from taking notes to the teacher recording a lesson so the students could upload at home for reteach or further studies.
screencast
I liked the screencast. Submitted it, but it says that Ive not submitted it. anyone else have that problem.

Screencast
I enjoyed the screencast assignment. It was surprisingly easy, and I think it could be useful in the classroom. I would like to work more with it, and implement it at some point this year.
Screencast
I really enjoyed the Screencast assignment. I was my first time trying the software Jing, but caught on rather quickly. I think the students would love doing some assignments using this type of software. Very Useful!!
