My time in EDUC 573

                     I really enjoyed this class though I have to admit that the podcast absolutely tore me up for whatever reason.  The blogging assignment was by far and away my favorite assignment that we did though there were a few others that I could do without major flaws.  I have started using two of these activities already.  Those being the power point and the web quest.  I would highly recommend this class to any educator who is interested in incorporating new technologies in their class rooms.

I am amazed at how much technology is used today by all ages. In my school parents can now download an app that will alert you when a teacher puts in a grade for your child. This helps keep parents more involved in their child's learning. Years ago a parent had to wait until the end of the six or 9 weeks report cards came out to find out how their child was doing. I think the technology will help students stay focused on schoolwork due to the fact that they know the minute the teachers enter grades their parents will know.  As a teacher I see students with some sort of device in hand daily. Technology has become a new way to teach students that are in the FMD unit at out school. I have learned a lot more about technology during this class that I can use in my classroom. I can see how using jing, Blogging, and Podcast can help me students in all areas of their learning. This class has showed me how behind I was on technology, hopefully after this class I will be a little closer to catching up.

Hi! My name is Malinda Boggs and I teach special education for 4th grade students. I am using some technology in my class this year and hope to be able to us more after this class. I am very excited about this class and look forward to creating the different assignments. I wish this class had been the first class  when I began working on my Masters Degree. I will have my Masters Degree in December of this year. I look forward to this class and this is my first time on a blog so I hope I do this right.

Technology for Teachers...

           Hi there.  I teach social studies at a local high school.  I will have to admit that this class worries me some as I am not real good in technological use.  Plus, being a history teacher kind of means I do not adapt to change very well.  I know with the world we live in and with the new advances in technology seemingly on a daily basis, I need to embrace and prepare myself for this new world where technology is the driver of almost every new product or idea.

Technology in my classroom.

Hi, my name is Ruth Bentley and I am a moderate to severe disability high school teacher. We have been very fortunate to have been given several grants to help us use technology in our classroom. I have been using a read/write program with my students and it has made collaboration with regular education staff much more efficient. I used to have to type all of our students notes or re-do an entire test to modify it for my students. This program allows me to scan documents and modify them as I need. This program also has another plus, it adds picture to the text and reads it to the student if needed. This allows the student to put their headsets on and listen to the notes and then discuss them with a peer. We also use board maker to create calendars and schedules to help our students function independently. The newest item we have been using is called a smart board and it allows me to make notes or draw on a large screen and use the internet to enhance any lesson. I look forward to finding new ways to improve my technology skills, as students enjoy using technology in the classroom.

Changing Education

I am amazed at how much students already know about technology, even at a young age.  My six year old daughter will say oh mom let me show you how to do that and I sit back and think wow.  The use of Jiing and blogging in the classroom will be wonderful resources.  Our world is changing and students need to be able to change with the times, it seems that they are adapting and the older a person is it is taking them much longer.  In our school we have alot of parental involvement and I can see where technology can play a part in not only helping the students keep up with happenings in the classroom but also the parents as the students get older keeping up with school happenings and homework assignments.  I plan on incorporating a lot more technology in my lessons this year.

I think I finally figured out how to delete that embarrassing post!!!  I can't believe I have almost completed a technology class.  I have one BIG discovery..."If I can struggle through this technology class, then my students can struggle through MATH class."  I have learned so much and I will keep this book as a reference.  I am going to use some new technology this year.  I have to decide what I am comfortable enough to try.  The screen cast was my favorite and I found it to be easiest to use. Any ideas that have worked for you?
