Blogs

Although Blogging has been in out social media for sometime, this is the first time I have ever taken a close look at it.  I now see why it's an important tool for the classroom.  I am looking forward to getting familiar with blogging so that I can use this as a daily activity.  I am already thinking of ways to use it in my geography and history classes.  Of course there are many  great ideas on the web at our fingertips.  The downside though is that Im sure all students will not have access at home to the internet. I look forward to the challenge and to putting new technology to use in my classroom.

  1. I agree. Using technology is very beneficial in our classrooms, but what about those who are left out because they don't have access? Equity and fairness are important dispositions for me to have. And it will be a challenge putting new technology in classrooms until all classes have enough computers for groups to use during school hours, and/or all students have access at home. My classroom last school year had only 3 computers for 21 students, with computer lab only 1x a week, with less than half of my students having internet access at home. I would absolutely love to move forward with all of the technology. The possibilities would almost be endless.

    1. I used a program in math this year that students could access from home, and that was always the complaint was that they didn't have a computer or internet at home. I teach in a rural area and not everyone has computers or internet. I think blogging would be a great component to a reading class as well as other classes. Kids could read and they could have book discussions through blogs, but then I go back to reality and realize that until all kids have access or each classroom has computers for all students, the use of technology is going to have to be limited.
