Struggles & triumphs

This semester has been very Foghorn Leghorn for me (you know, the rooster from Looney Tunes that steps on a rake and gets hit in the face every time he turns around... Yeah, that guy!)!  For example, when accepting my invitation to this blog, I assumed I would have the opportunity to enter my own information...  NOT the case!  My husband was the last one to check his Gmail account on the laptop I used when accepting the invitation, so... Here I am, showing up under my husband's name :-p
But... All in all, I have to say, this course has proved to be one of the greatest learning experiences I have had in some time!
I FEAR, and LOATHE technology!!!  When beginning my Rank I at UC, I realized I would have to take 15 hours of electives, and jumped at the opportunity to take this course in hopes of defeating said fear and working on my love/hate relationship with all things technological.  Thus far, despite all mishaps and unforeseen circumstances, I can report that I have been successful in both!
My students have even commented on my improved use of technologies in the classroom when showing off some of the new knowledge I have attained!
Go me! ;)

  1. I agree...from a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the weakest, my technology skills would be a 2. In the beginning, I was very nervous about this course. Now, I would say that it has been one of my favorite classes I have taken during my Education pursuit.

The Web Quest was by far my most favorite assignment. My students loved it. I would constantly here "aahhs" as they clicked away. I had purchased Microsoft Office 2013 just for this course, and I am so glad I did. The navigation is easier when you get adjusted to the new format, and the template variations are wonderful.

Also, I enjoyed making the web blog. I used this assignment to meet a demand that my district so needed for the primary grades. I took all my links, ideas, resources, and the list goes on...and compiled them into one destination. Other teachers in my building, as well as, across the district will be able to use this blog for their own classrooms. I never dreamed that I would be able to do something like this.

My next quest is to create a Wiki space for our Reading program lesson plans. During a P.D. meeting this past summer, all the primary teachers said they would like a place for all teachers to present their lesson plans. This would allow us to see what others are doing, get ideas, and share resources. Well, because of this class, I think a Wiki space would be the perfect avenue.

Thank you for offering this class, especially for technological dummies like me.

  2. I agree! I have felt like a Looney Tune cast member. I know I have caused our professor to pull his hair out a few times.
Strangely enough, I have loved taking this class. I have been wanting to "blog" and even do some tutorials but I had no idea how. I feel like I am slowly catching on.
I think it is awesome your students have noticed your progression with technology. Keep up the efforts.
