Hope I'm doing this correctly!
OK... I am pleased to hear that everyone is excited about this class; I, however, am more fearful than excited. It just took me 30 minutes to figure out how to start typing in the little blog box. The good news is this is our first assignment and I have already had to read to chapter three in our book to figure out how to post a blog. Shouldn't that have been in chapter one? I guess that means I'm getting a jump start on class readings! Ahh... silver linings! My name is Linda Farley and I teach mathematics at Belfry High School in Pike County Kentucky. I love what I do and am a math nerd, but I am also a "technotard". This class is going to be challenging for me, but as I learned during a recent professional development day, "One can accomplish anything with a growth mindset." I graduated high school back when hair was big, restaurant meals were small and they taught typing instead of computer skills. What does all of this mean? For all of you young men and women, it means I am old enough to your mother. I have been married for almost 30 years and have three children. I would like to implement a "flipped" classroom next year. I hope to learn the skills required to make the transition to a "flipped" classroom. Actually, pretty much anything we learn (technology wise), will be helpful to me. Dr. Rubin has his work cut out for him. Wish me luck!
