Technology in a Kindergarten Classroom

Upon beginning this course, I will admit, I was unable to see how incorporating technology such as podcasting, screencasting, and blogging into my Kindergarten classroom would be beneficial, or even possible, considering the age of the students.  However, after diving into these new ideas with an open mind, wow... I am so excited about the possibilities for richer learning experiences in my classroom.  Screencasting, for instance, would be a perfect way to show students exactly what steps they need to go through while navigating a program on the computer. By blogging about the things we are doing in our class and providing links to other valuable resources, parents will have the opportunity to feel more connected to their child's education experience and give them appropriate support at home.  But my favorite tool that I have learned about in this class is podcasting.  There are so many ways that podcasts can be used in a Kindergarten classroom, ranging from teacher recorded podcasts for students to utilize in listening centers, to student made podcasts in which students can record themselves reading, give oral reports on research topics, or a plethora of other uses. I feel as if my eyes have been opened, and I can't wait to share the things I've learned with my students!
