Technology
Technology is taking over everything. It is almost scary to think about what can be accomplished by using it. It can be dangerous in the wrong hands, just as with anything. Technology also has many positive advantages. For instance, the use of this blog can reach many people at one time who can respond to it. It seems almost unreal that when I was a Sophomore, I took the first computer class at my school. We had been using the famous typewriter. Now look how technology has evolved. My daughter has an IPhone 5 and I still have an old track phone. As a teacher, I feel very behind in this area. I do use the regular stuff that has been around for a while like the document camera, United Streaming videos, and PowerPoint. I have just recently been given an inter write pad. But it just seems like something else that I have to learn and become use to. I am sure I will like it after I am comfortable with it.

Jamie, technology is taking over everything. It also seems that it changes drastically. Cell phones are a good example. You update your phone one month and then the next month, there is a newer, better, and faster phone on the market.
ReplyDeleteAs a teacher, I also feel behind in technology. I have always felt like teachers should have a lot of hands-on training with all the technology involved in teaching. If I had that kind of support, I am sure I would not be so leery about using new technology.
Jamie, I agree that technolgy is taking over. What is going to happen if all the computers quit working and things have to be completed by hand? I am like you in I feel like behind and need lots of practice to get comfortable with the new technology. It also seems like once I am comfortable with one type and new type of technology comes in and takes its place and I am back to square one. My third grader knows more about technology than I do. When I went to high school the only computers in the school were in a computer lab and in elementary school we did not have computers. I feel like I am always playing catch up. One of my in-services this summer is on ipad training so hopefully I can learn to use them effectively in the classroom. Of course once I do there will be something new.
